Who actually redshirted this year?

Although UCLA apparently saw over 20 freshman take the field this past year, many of them are still perhaps eligible for a redshirt year, given the new ruling that players can play in up to four games and still qualify for a redshirt year. Does anyone have information on which players might take advantage?

Also wondering if there's any news on Olorunfunmi, Jamabo, and Murphy. While I think Josh Kelley (assuming he returns) is easily the starter, it doesn't hurt to have experienced backs who, given the improvement in the offensive line play, might just surprise a few people. I know many have expressed disappointment in Soso, but he's rushed for almost 1200 yards in four seasons for close to 5 yds per cary, even with the atrocious line play, and chaotic OC stewardship. Bolu has similar numbers (slightly lower, probably due to his use in short yardage situations). In any case, both qualify for a redshirt year. Murphy, on the other hand, must seek a medical exemption or waiver to get an additional year.

Also, what about Jaelen Phillips? Although he qualifies, I guess it also depends on other life plans. How long does he want to stay in school vs. perhaps leaving for the NFL?

Will Josh Woods, a senior, return?

Thoughts?

I think he played in 6 games. At least 5.

I'm sure Philips will seek and get the redshirt. That doesn't mean he'll ultimately stay for the 5th year, or even a 4th, but there is no rational reason not to have the option going forward. It costs nothing. I'm not even sure there is anything he has to do to get it. If he played 4 games or less, the school probably just notes that on the record, and he retains a year of eligibility. Same as it used to be if you played zero games.

That ESPN link is misleading

First, these two articles, announcing he was out for the year, each say he played 6 games and can't redshirt.

From the LA Times: "Olorunfunmi’s injury ends his college career because he appeared in all six games this season and is not eligible to redshirt, unlike Phillips and Jamabo."

Second, the ESPN link shows stats (carries/yards). But he can get in the game while not getting a touch. If you go to the official site, and click on the box scores for the Washington and Cal games, you'll see he's listed on the participation tab for both games, despite not having any carries.
