Is Chip our only HC who hasn't had to start a walk-on at

the QB position in last 40 years? I know Donahue, Dorrell, Neuheisel, and Mora did for sure. I just don't remember Toledo's last few years after Cade left.

For Toledo, Drew Bennett was a walk on.

I assume by "walk on" you mean former walk on. I think Drew Bennett fits the description. Though "had to" start is a bit extreme. In Bennett's case (and in most cases, I think), it was a choice over a scholarship player.

I don't recall who Neu started that was a former walk on. I don't think he did.

He was a fairly highly recruited JC transfer, and was on scholarship coming in.

I don't think Dorrell ever started a walk on either. Osaar Rashaan was a scholarship player.

Thanks for correcting me. I thought he was a walk on.
