Looking for silver lining with Phillips and Juarez out

I suppose you could look for the silver lining associated with the injuries to Phillips and Juarez (that ended their 2018 seasons). Based on their ratings when they enrolled at UCLA, CCK has two 5-star linebackers coming in next season at a position of need. They would be joining what should be a much better UCLA team in year 2 under CCK.

He was a high 4 star coming out of hs. It’s all about how motivated these guys are. I don’t see it as a talent issue and the staff is in place for them to reach their potential. Unless their injuries are too much to overcome. Remember the older odigizua didn’t come into his own until his RS senior year and he was highly touted as well.

most ,Woods has been average imo, and of course Juarez has been all but non-existent, hopefully that will change in the future.

That Barnes was less then average last year. Yet look what become of him this year with coaching and experience. As you say Wood has been average, but all the report coming out of camp was that he was going to have a break out year before his injury. I don’t understand the underestimate some poster have on our players.

What if Woods comes out playing like an All America next year. The point is no one knows how good or bad the kid can be. With this coaching staff and what I’ve seem so far. I’m going that he will have a great year and make that defense stronger.

conceded that lately Lucier-South has made me "Eat my words"He too I felt was just average the first 2 years so I hope Woods does that to me next year as well.I try to qualify most of my opinions and statements.I certainly agree about Barnes he has turned up the heat in his play from one year to the next.

that players take time to mature and do so at different times. Barnes sucked, KLS sucked, 2 games ago DTR sucked, 3 games ago kelley sucked, Boss was never going to amount to anything, yada yada yada... Enjoy the process. Watching these young players gorow and finally pop is half the fun. And with the coachig these kids are getting now I think we'll keep seeing more and more lights going on.

Sensible posts I've read in a long time. I don't post that often but your comments hit the mark and express my feelings as well. Sometimes I feel some posters start a topic that just try to stir up controversy with some of their ridiculous comments.
