Much of the buzz from hiring Chip has fizzled.

No recruiting buzz, whatsoever. Tell me there's a plan but just not seeing it.

Chip Kelly does not become the invisible man

The Chip Kelly name does not vanish after 1 season. Players around the country know about him. The issue is his staff has to build relationships with HS coaches and players, notably in CA. Relationships with coaches is a big factor mentioned by most recruits when they make their decisions. For example, big DL recruit Mafi mentioned this when he switched from Cal to UCLA after Azzinaro was hired by CCK.

At this time, I believe CCK is selling the chance to compete for immediate playing time. The fact he is playing a lot of true freshmen his first year at UCLA supports this appeal to recruits. However, this approach is not a recipe for immediate success, especially for a program that has not experienced much success as these kids have been growing up.

Ok. There’s a plan. You’re just not seeing it.

Of course there’s a plan. The fact that the fan base doesn’t know his plan doesn’t mean there is no plan.

CCK isn’t going to let fans watch practice and he’s not going to tell you who he called last night. Deal with it.

These young pups are going to grow up. 2019 will be a much better year, one that will make you for get 2016, 2017 and 2018.

in the country and posted his remarks here about a month ago. He indicated that UCLA has a totally different style of recruiting than any other school but that they are present. He also indicated that many players on their team would love to be Bruins if offered. So let's see what happens. It's all on Chip to get this mess turned around.

But it appears in retrospect that the reason Chip Kelly chose UCLA over a strong Florida offer, was that here he would be given time to raise the UCLA football program out of mediocrity, come what may this season, and regardless of how he sees fit to do it.
Granted that the early recruiting returns this season, appear none too inspiring for most of our fans (even if I'm not too unhappy with it), especially from a stars standpoint.
But during his Pac 12 run of dominance at Oregon, his recruiting classes averaged out at only 16.7, and the top rated recruits, including his first recruiting class at UCLA which was ranked 15th, came late in the recruiting season.
What I know is it's easier to attract the players you want, rather than those you have to settle for, by presenting a quality product on the field.
The upside is that recruits realize there is ample opportunity for early playing time at UCLA.
There is no Pac 12 team that has been so dominant this season they figure to siphon off all the top recruits.
So feel free to draw your own conclusions as to what lies ahead for this 2019 recruiting class.
As for me, I'm a wait and see kind of guy, LOI Day is still 3 months away, and the choicest plums during every recruiting season, fall from the tree later on.
I think it's way too early to get our shorts in a knot.

Neither Chip nor Azanaro like recruiting. Do not hold your breath waiting to land 5-stars. They don’t like recruiting. Was not a great recruiter at Oregon.

Go Bruins!
