Transfer recruitments don't generally last very long, and we don't even have an OL coach.

It shouldn't surprise anyone when a Southern California kid doesn't acclimate to a radically different culture.

MD Kid Pass

There aren't too many MD kids I would want. Quentin Lake is an exception to the rule because his dad was a Bruin too.

Rollinson is as big of a Trojan as they come.
I thought I heard once that one of kids was at one time even on the payroll at SC working in the recruiting office.
I'm also not sure if MD kids are mentally tough like kids from other programs.

St. Brown brothers are good because of their father, not Rollo.

How many MD kids stay at the same high school or college for 4 years. What's Bru McCoy doing these days?
They got far more production from a kid like Drake London, who came from a traditional high school set up.

He wants to be a starter. If USC doesn't offer I think we have a chance.

And HC situation not settled.
Very doubtful he would commit at this time.

And if rumors are to be believed

The next OL coach is so bad at recruiting he couldn't even be bothered to send an NLI to a committed recruit who ended up being first team All-Big Ten at another school . So I'm not entirely sure what we're supposed to get even with an OL coach in place if rumors hold true.

Are you talking about Tim Drevno?

He's obviously a homerun choice as far as his OL coaching resume is concerned. Wondering where you heard he was such a horrible recruiter?

Is he a homerun? Not Sure.

He got fired at Michigan because his O-Line in his last year there couldn't pass protect. And his recruiting on the Line there had some great pulls, Michael Onwenu, Cesar Ruiz, Ben Bredeson, for sure.

BUT

his recruiting was tailing off a lot towards the end and was mostly characterized by a long line of misses. He also had the aforementioned incident with Alaric Jackson when the 2016 Michigan class was desperate for a tackle.

He also didn't do great at USC in his second go through there.

I think he has some chops with a power running game and the disaster of the 2017 Michigan O-Line wasn't entirely his fault as it was the result of a late Brady Hoke era recruiting gap as much as anything. But there's a reason Michigan fans weren't exactly sorry to see him go. He might be a good fit at UCLA as a technical coach, but watch recruiting and pass protection with a skeptical eye.

Obviously, Frye was the best...

...OL coach we've had in as long as I can remember. He seemed to turn out serviceable lines from what looked like nothing and good lines when he only had a little to work with. Just hoping Drevno can keep it up...

Drevno concerns in recruiting

I shared my reservations about Drevno in another post in terms of his ability to recruit. Here's a link from 247 Sports but keep in mind this is from an SC perspective.
