Ethan Young Portal Twitter Follows
Posted Tue, Dec 06 7:49 pm
Just for fun, took a quick look to see who Ethan Young is following on Twitter and saw the following:

Nohl Williams - CB from UNLV, 6-0 and 170 lbs, All-Mountain West Honorable Mention

Kaleb Smith - WR from Virginia Tech, 6-3 and 190 lbs, 37 catches for 674 yards and 3 TDs last year

Kyon Barrs - DL from Arizona, 6-3 and 285 lbs, All-PAC 12 second team

Austin Reed - QB from Western Kentucky, 6-0 and 185 lbs, ranked second in the nation in passing yards, passing TDS, and completions

Julien Simon - LB from USC, 6-1 and 230 lbs, former 4-star recruit

Marshawn Kneeland - DE from Western Michigan, 6-3 and 275 lbs, 10 TFL and 1.5 sacks last year, 8.5 TFL and 4.5 sacks the year before

Carson Steele - RB from Ball State, 6-0 and 202 lbs, 1,556 rushing yards (5.4 avg) and 14 rushing TDs last year

Jonathan McGill - S from Stanford, 5-9 and 175 lbs, team captain and tied for second on team with 57 tackles

Pretty sure he was also following a couple of additional QBs in the portal at one point, though I do not see them anymore. One was Spencer Sanders from Oklahoma State, who started four years and looks like a real dual threat. The other was Braylon Braxton from Tulsa, who is the brother of Jaylon Braxton, a big time CB recruit we are after. Looks like Braylon may have withdrawn from the portal.

Not sure these follows mean anything, but pretty interesting so I thought I would share.

Julien Simon is my guy, only a redshirt freshman. Would be ready to step in for Muasau in 2024.

Austin Reed is a great Graduate Senior option to challenge Garbers for the starting job and a great backup if he doesn't.

It’s clear Chip Kelly was quick to understand how the portal would transform football recruiting, and is ahead of the curve.

We still have BRO Kool Aid drinkers who shrilly insist only “high four & 5 star HS recruits” are acceptable. However, most Bruin fans get it. Given that UCLA demands REAL student / athletes, the portal system is ideal.

Two new follows

Jaeden Gould - CB/S from Nebraska, 6-2 and 200 lbs, former 4-star recruit and the top-ranked player in Nebraska’s 2022 class, but only appeared in one game and did not record a tackle

Adari Haulcy - S from New Mexico, 5-11 and 220 lbs, 247 Freshman All American, had one game with 24 tackles and an INT

Looks like he is no longer following Nohl Williams, the CB from UNLV

Would gladly take either of these guys to upgrade our secondary.

One new follow:

Spencer Holstege - OT from Purdue, 6-5 and 310 lbs - three-year starter, twice named Academic All-Big 10, two years of eligibility left

Still following Gould, Smith, Kneeland, and Steele

Nohl Williams committed to Cal

Kyon Barrs down to USC, LSU, and Miami

Jonathan McGill committed to SMU

Braylon Braxton left the portal and is staying at Tulsa

So far, the follows aren’t amounting to much of anything, but still interesting and a long way to go.

Another interesting follow who hit the portal yesterday. OL from Baylor - 6-5 and 331 lbs. SI/FanNation article calls him a freak athlete with strong run-blocking ability. Redshirt sophomore, so he has multiple years of eligibility.

Tre’Vez Johnson from Florida and Omar Rogers from Elon.

Looks like both guys have two years of eligibility left. Johnson was a starter at Florida and the only Gator to record an interception in each of the last three years. Rogers has seven career interceptions.
