Chip may have told him that, while every position is open, he'd have an uphill climb.

Personally, I think Caleb would have won that position battle. But I suppose reasonable minds can differ, and I can't blame him for avoiding the risk.

He'd have been competing with DTR or Dillon Gabriel. Highly doubt he was even considering coming to Ucla. I'm sure Riley approached Caleb to follow him before his hire to $c was made public. Every story teller has story to tell especially about himself.

Big deal. Prior to 2022, DTR was inconsistent. We are talking about a #1 NFL draft pick. DTR would have transferred.

the context of the posts? Did I give you an impression Caleb was afraid of competition? He entered the portal to follow Riley. All I'm saying is I don't buy his claim he even considered Ucla to spite Riley. My take? When Riley accepted $c job, he told Williams to follow him and he agreed on the spot. This Ucla interest is just a smokescreen.... anyone here believed we had a chance at the time? I'd imagine Marx already said he was lock to $c and I wouldn't have even argued on that one.

I have no reason to believe Williams was lying. At the time, I do remember the UCLA rumors that got out.
