He’s coming to UCLA. And why not the guy can play.

But I only expect one season from him

If he’s able to perform well and put up a good season, he’s off to the NFL. If he struggles, he’s back in the transfer portal shopping for the best NIL package.

For an official as some random internet posters might suggest!

at the QB position. The future looks like a revolving door. It is either the NFL or try and get a better package somewhere else. There will be some exceptions at Alabama or OSU where the school will increase the NIL package to keep the kid from leaving, but for most it will be try somewhere else.

He is a long way from the NFL.

There are two facets to NFL QB play now.

1) Keeping the train running on time by making smart, timely reads within the system (think Aikman, Warner, Fouts, Montana)

2) Making good decisions when the play breaks down - the silk purse out of the sows ear (think Mahomes, Elway etc).

In order to star in the NFL, you gotta be able to do both (and Aikman, Warner, Fouts, Montana could - tho that is not what they are known for - and likewise, Elway and Mahomes keep/kept the train running on time).

In order to play in the NFL, you gotta do the former.

You gotta be able to run the team’s system, play after play, and keep down and distance manageable. There are plenty of QB’s who are out of football who were exciting when the play broke down (Manziel, anyone?).

Iamaleava is great when the play breaks down. He struggles with keeping the train running on time.

The unfortunate thing is that keeping the train running on schedule is the hardest part.

Wanna know why DTR isn’t a starter in the NFL?

Looks like $c is spending a ton of money for '26 recruiting class. You better hope all those recruits step on campus before your deep pocket donor realize there's liquidation crisis going? Or maybe they are buy the dip folks right now? Or there'd be massive stimulus where history repeat itself? I have no clue where this NIL thing is headed with all the turmoil going on in this fragile world

Think the deal is being shopped?

I think the Iamaleava’s have a lot of pride on the line, and taking less is going to be a tough pill to finalize on given that any agreement will eventually be public…

If that is the case, it’s in their interest to shop, tho I’m not sure who is out there still as a buyer.

Not being shopped, being negotiated.

Agreeing in principle and agreeing on terms and signing a contract are two different things.
