Brandon Williams Is Only 16 Years Old !

We may be sleeping at the wheel when it comes to Brandon Williams, the Combo Forward from Christ the King HS in Queens (New York City). There’s been little mention of him here, and he doesn’t get much play from the recruiting media.

Williams is a HS senior, but ONLY 16 YEAS OLD when a big majority of college prospects are already 18 or even 19. The difference physically, mentally, and in terms of maturity between 16 and 19 can be huge. Think what you were like at 16 ….. compared to yourself 2 or 3 later as a HS senior or college freshman.

The fact is is would be quite normal for Brandon to be Sophomore or Junior in HS instead of a Senior. Now, let’s look at a couple of age comparable recruits who do get a lot of ink and attention.

Local recruit Isaiah Elohim of Sierra Canyon is highly coveted by the Bruin staff, and is a Top 5 ranked player in his 2024 class. Elohim turned 17 on June 20th.

Vyctorius Miller is another Top 5 / 2024 recruit, and highly pursued by every university including UCLA. I don’t know his birth date, but Vyctorius was already 16 when the roster for USA Basketball was updated in March.

So, that makes the HS Junior Elohim older and fellow Junior Miller only a little younger than the HS SENIOR Williams. It also means Brandon might be ranked in the Top 10 recruit if he too was a Junior.

Brandon unofficially visited Westwood when Christ the King played LA Fairfax at the Crypto.com (Staples) Arena last December. About that same time UCLA started recruiting him, and Cronin offered the first week of June.

That led to an official visit in August, which intentionally coincided with the official visit for Devin Williams. Devin committed to UCLA at the end of August.

Based on his age Brandon’s has enormous upside potential and it likely means he stays in college longer. UCLA would be blessed to go 2 for 2 on recruits named Williams.

What happen to us recruiting him. Its seems like the two biggest 5 star plyers we were after are all of sudden just went cold on us. So what happened to Collier and Holland? At one point they were considered both to be very warm with UCLA. Now its like we are sitting in the freezer with them. So now we are working on back ups to those misses.
