Devin and Kyle both transferring …
Posted Mon, Mar 24 1:58 pm
Some what concerning to me but at the same time not to surprised about Kyle.

He never really lived up to his potential .. unfortunately we will never see Devins potential.

At least they are both not heavy contributors .. the Bruins are really are not losing to much except a practice player and a limited bench player.

That being said I really hope Cronin already has some potential replacements in mind.

The Bruins need a true point guard desperately bad. I am hoping Sky Clark will shoot the 3 more next season .. he definitely has the stroke.. and the Bruins need to improve there outside shooting next season to compete in the Big 10.

Another 6-10 post off the bench would be be nice addition. $c had post player few years back named Chevez Goodwin .. not a starter but a solid contributor .. the Bruins need that type of player off of the bench.

I really hope Brandon Williams stays .. been with program for two years and he brings some bulk off the bench.

Of course definitely want to see Mara Come back next season and make that big “leap” to become the next great center out of UCLA.

Interesting and exciting times .. rooting for Mick to bring in the players we need to take the Bruins to the next level.

Go Bruins!

I'm assuming that before

a player enters the transfer portal there's a heart to heart conversation with the coaching staff about their potential usage the upcoming year. The assumption is that Devin & Kyle are NOT in the plan moving forward.

Devin and Kyle are both post players. Could this mean that CMC has already secured the return of Mara and in addition is recruiting another 6"10+ post player. Another BIG is just as important as a PG and a 3 pt shooting wing.

Cronin was open to keeping both.

Zero height if Mara bails.

I'm probably in the minority here...

but I'm pretty bummed about Kyle entering the portal. We know his limitations offensively (and FTs), but his athleticism is off the charts. Seemed like our best overall defender (3 through 5), with Mara being the best (at the 5). Hope he's just testing the waters and decides to come back next year.

Once you enter the portal, most do not come back. Why would a coach take a player back unless he is a superstar??

In basketball does a player return back. Football have alot more players on the roster than basketball. Big difference. 100 vs 15.

Seth Trimble came back to Carolina last year.

Many kids enter to see their market value.... if their team wants to keep them they can make an improved offer.

Cronin has said he would renew Kyle's deal. Maybe if Mara goes in he stays? We will see. Of course if he wants out he wants out. He didn't play much.

Again. Now the ones testing NBA waters, a lot of them return. Basketball positions have to be filled quickly. Within a month. Football has an early and late transfer period. There are transfers that transfer in December and April in football. Basketball has a 30 day window. Decisions have to be made quickly.
