I sent Rod Palmer a text 2 years ago: Tyrone Riley is the guy you should make your first priority in the 2024 class.
He was about 6-4 155 then and is now about 6-6 and 180 from what his Dad told me, he was about 6-5 165 as a high school SR.
He played in an all-star game where Zoom Diallo and a bunch of 5-stars and other guys were going and Tyrone got MVP because here it is an all-star game and no one could score off of him. If you are 5-10 or 7-0 or in-between, you can't score.
He disrupted the entire opposing team with 5 top 40 players, Dinos was stunned, he has a 42-inch vertical, 7-4 wingspan, he'd block a shot, pass it, dunk the offensive rebound, steal the inbounds pass, dunk it, knock away the inbounds pass, throw it to a teammate who was so stunned someone had passed the ball to him in an all-star game it went through his hands and Tyrone saved it from going out of bounds by smashing it off Zoom's face (almost broke his nose), then Tyrone got the ball and hit a 22-footer.
He had 28 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 9 steals and 7 blocks. If Cronin was there, he'd have to break that bone in half and just hand it over to Tyrone. Dinos wept when Frank Burlison and rest of us voted Tyrone MVP cause his team won by 12. "But he's a 3-star!" Oh, well, drink some ouzo and eat some donuts.
Nope, Dinos gave the MVP to Zoom. 14 points, nice game. Loser.
His dad went to Jordan High in South-Central and coaches there, but sent his son to St. Pius/St. Matthias (I think that's the name), paying $50,000 a year to send his son to school. Tyrone the dad went to LACC and then to USF and made millions playing in Europe, 6-7 245 beast.
He might weigh 300 now. First time, I saw the two of them together I said, 'He's less than half of you."
Dad: "But he's way better than I ever will be."
Dad's calling...
