In the Elite 8, Duke, Auburn, and Tennessee lose all 5 starters. Florida will lose 4 starters and 1 of its top 3 reserves, Texas Tech will lose its best 4 starters and 2 of its 4 best reserves, Michigan State loses its 2 best starters plus another starter and 1 of its top 3 reserves, Alabama loses its 4 best starters and Houston loses its best 2 starters and 2 of its top 3 reserves.
The other 8 teams that lost in the Sweet 16 are all in the same boat.
Plus, even as these teams add transfers to recruits already signed, they could all lose more starters and top reserves as a result (e.g., if Duke signs a stud 6-6 transfer, do both Evans and Foster transfer?).
UCLA loses 2 starters, Kobe and Dylan, plus 2 reserves for sure only 1 of whom was among our top 4 reserves (Lazar).
I think we're getting Tyrone and he and Donovan will be steep upgrades from Kobe and Dylan.
Tyrone likely will be a 1st round pick after next season.
Aday and Donovan are likely 1st round picks.
Skyy will be a 2nd round pick though I think he can get an extra year of eligibility if he wants it.
Tyler, our returning all Big 10 player, doesn't seem like an NBA player to me yet, but he's clearly becoming a very good college player.
Eric D was all over the map. But he has a ceiling of becoming a 1st round pick next season. That's best case scenario. He needs to work his butt off... which Cronin constantly praises him for.
I'm not convinced that Devin won't come back now that Donovan is here with Eric F.
As good as the guys named above are, Eric F has better all-around talent than any of them. The question is, when does he show it? With the talent we have, does he need to show it next year or does he need to be a good solid player for 10 MPG?
We're waiting to hear on Sebastian and Brandon, right? Our 2nd best reserve last year and a redshirt who might be the biggest mystery on the team. We don't know if he's an undersized 4 or a tall W.
Hopefully Sebastian and Brandon return and Devin changes course to play with the guy who made him look like a shooting star from 3 when he was a JR.
That's a big key: Donovan should make every player on the team 25%-50% better just by being Donovan. Numbers, he has eyes in the back of his head, his back, arms and legs.
We have other guys who make their teammates better: Aday, Skyy, Trent, Tyrone, and Eric F. That gets contagious.
If Devin's gone, we want a 7-0 260 guy, please.
