I thought Dent had only one year of eligibility left? I’d rather have the younger player. My guess is we learned he’s not coming.

Track record and production in D-1 vs ...

An 18-year old with "potential" - guess who Cronin will go with?

Cronin's a proven developer of talent. But, the timeline for that talent to come into focus and turn into production at the collegiate level will vary a lot. IF a player is a likely one-and-done, why invest the time and energy to develop the kid, when you have a proven D-1 player that can plug in immediately?

Yep. I’d go with Dent 100 out of 100 times

No-brainer.

Bruins need a top experienced PG to make noise in the tournament.

Let’s not forget that Burries has had a UCLA offer for a few years and never pulled the trigger.

It is obvious that CMC gives more credence to season players than an unproven 5 star player. Dent is a quantifiable successful D1 college PG while Burries is a better pro prospect with an unknown level of college success. Both would only play for one year, but you know what you are getting with Dent.

I'm with you, Dent 100%.

You would rather have a 5 Star HS player than the best returning PG in the nation?

That only makes sense if you think Burries is going to play multiple years in college. Problem with that is that would mean he isn’t as good as advertised if he comes back after his frosh year which would still tip the scales toward the transfer star.

While generational talent like Cooper Flagg or Zion Williamson make sense to splash your big NIL war chest on, the wise guys will spend it on elite returning college players.

Don’t forget that Burries was an early bloomer

Burries is a great player, but he developed early and is older than his peers.

In the past, that’s not a recipe for college or nba superstardom.

He’s not super quick and has relied on his strength to get his way. That will change in college, and definitely the pros (if he makes it.)

Dent is a bonifide star. Likely the quickest PG in college and the opposite of Burries, since Dent was a late bloomer.

BTW, the same problem, early blooming, goes for Koa Peat.

We’ll see.

While It's True That Brayden

Will turn 20 in September, that's actually pretty routine, rather than an exception to a rule these days.

Also, I disagree that his success has come largely from being stronger and more physically mature than his peers.

With some players (Kijani Wright & isaiah Elohim), that was the case.

I think Brayden is pretty dang speedy and quick, highly-skilled (he will be a Lead Guard ("PG") in the NBA within a year or two after getting there), and he's a rare talent.

Having said that, I LOVE Donovan Dent so I'm pleased as punch.

I always thought (and have said so here many times) it would be a huge mistake for Brayden to to go UCLA. Since he's only going to go to college for a year, he should go to a school with a gaping hole in its backcourt so that he can play 30 MPG and that also has a track record for success.

If UCLA meets condition 2, it does not meet condition 1.

Houston, Tennessee, Alabama and Oregon, his stated 4 finalists, all meet both conditions.

Even if they are losing a lot of players, they all have far more money than UCLA and I'm very confident that all of those teams will be back in the NCAA Tournament next season. They might not all go as deep, but if one does and it's partly because Brayden has a great season then he'll be not only a first round NBA pick, but a lottery pick and will get major bank in the pros as well as in college.
