I know I am preaching in the desert about getting rid of the 3-point shot because ..it has become easier to make than trying to score inside as proven again by the game statistics
UCLA won by making 42% of them (10 out of 24) because that’s the only way they could win with Lauren Betts on the bench with her teammates lacking the scoring soft touch around the basket with only 4 shots made out of 24 attempted by them ( 17%) with Lauren Betts making the other 7 for a total of only 11 made or 36%
Proving again that BASKETBALL is now all about the 3-point shot which is killing the game and should go to be replaced - lets say- by a 8 foot or so arch where you can dribble drive and/or dribble penetrate all the way to the basket and score, but when missed ,
.. in order to limit the big man advantage under the rim , no direct put back and/or tip in score allowed as well as after the ensuing offensive rebound inside ,the rebounder will have to bring the ball out for another shot beyond that zone for 2 points only regarding of the distance , except when dropping it off inside that zone to a wide open unopposed teammate for lay up or a dunk ,as well as backdoor cut plays and/or direct dish off from inside or outside that zone to an unopposed teammate under the basket as well as for alley-oops dunks for also 2 points
But would give 3 points after a player breakaway score inside that zone as a result of a steal/deflection to reward those defensive plays, but 2 points for any other play which find a player receiving a long pass ahead of the pack beyond the center court
