Its time to now get rid of it..and replace it by an- 8 foot or so arch- measured from the baseline, where you can drive in and rebound but only shoot beyond it regardless of the distance for 2 points only,
. except allow scoring inside from dribble driving non-stop from one side of the floor and/or driving in all the way to the basket for a direct /reverse/ or scoop layups score, as well as drop-off passes to a better positioned teammate under the basket..
.. with if needed, no more than one ball bounce before scoring, including alley-oops score as well as what’s also make the beauty of the game, like backdoor cuts- straight dish-off passes - from outside or inside that arch for an easy uncontested straight layup or dun But to limit the big men advantage under the rim..
..., do not allow after a miss any put back- tip in - or direct shot back from an offensive rebounder which will have to bring back the ball back beyond that 8 foot arch to reset another play from where you can shoot regardless of the fashion including launching spectacular flying dunks - to reward skill and not size!
But give 3 points when scoring inside following a breakaway as a result of a steal/deflection to rewards those defensive plays in addition to the old fashion 3-point play when scoring while being fouled
And finally 2 points for any other play which find a player receiving a pass ahead of the pack passed the center court
