Ty Riley IV

His final schools are Arizona, Arkansas, Texas, Washington and one more I forgot because Ty Riley III just told me but had to jump because Calipari is calling. Calling him & his son, not an agent or representative.

UCLA ain't on the list. Way too low on its NIL deal because, as I've heard from NBA sources, TRIV is possibly a lotto pick, definitely a 1st round pick, in 2026 (one more year and done) and those guys get paid and Cronin either lacks the money or maybe sticking with Dylan over better talent makes folks think he plays favorites and no one wants to get benched because you're not teacher's pet.

That's not the same as demanding a guarantee.

Obviously, lots of big NBA agents want to rep him, but he hasn't made a decision on that. He's going to sign with an NBAPA agent, not some clown, when he's had a chance to figure things out which won't be until later. His Dad has money and made a lot of it by figuring it out on his own and his son respects that.

No guarantee demanded and UCLA was the 18th school to contact TRIV. not the first after a BRO scoop on a "hidden gem" first brought to light (like, Frank Burlison told Howland about Russell Westbrook way before Tracy & Greg did; Frank used to have Russell's blurb up on his site about discovering him and telling Howland about him BIG, but I hear the scouting service model itself is crashing cause coaches know for themselves who the good players are).

Cronin needed the money for Donovan and Aday, and now that Aday bolted, it's too late on Ty, he's moved on and narrowed his choices and for him a commitment is a commitment.

But Cronin haa money for other guys and I think we're way better off at the G/W area (3 Gs is the norm on top teams even if a G is 6-7) than some people think (we all have opinions) and what we need is a post. A low post who can alternate with Tyler/Eric D who play both 4 & 5, but can run like the wind because Donovan Dent will make everyone not just run like the wind but soar like eagles.

FWIW.

UCLA has lost players before and survived. Houston in the Final 4 has more 3-stars and no-stars than 4-stars and no 5-stars and all but 2 guys are transfers. This is Sampson's 2nd trip to the Final 4 plus he has an Elite 8. He has a system, he recruits to fill it and he can spot talent better than any scouts including me that's for dang sure, I ain't in Kelvin Sampson's league.

Not in Cronin's neither.

Veesaar is asking for a lot. Online it said Arizona couldn't afford to keep him.

They lost Love and Lewis.

Bradley back with Dell'Orso. I think Dell'Orso is the better PG next season, better shooter, better everything except maybe on d, and that's his best position, Lead Guard, he has big NBA potential.

I think Carter Bryant is a stretch 4, not like TRIV who is a G or W or whatever people like to call a player who happens to be 6-6, a 7-4 wingspan and 44-inch vertical and keeps improving his skills every year. He's can play 4 spots in the NBA, with the reach of some Cs.

They have Alijah coming in, but I don't see him starting as a FR. Reclassifying was a bridge too far, but he can prove me wrong as many have. Good one off the bench.

They have Koa, 6-8 PF but I don't think he is a one and done type. 2 and done. A 4, not a 3 regardless of exaggerated skills in no d AAU ball. Not quick enough to play against Ws or Gs and some Gs in college are as tall as him.

Dwayne Aristode, 6-7/8, again more of a stretch 4 than a W and what happens with Carter, Koa and Aristode? One transfers, possibly 2 do, after 1 season, maybe 1 at mid-season or even within a week.

Bryce James, W... um. Not as good as Bronny at the same stage, not even close, but good publicity and I'm sure Lloyd would love to have him develop over 4 years. Um.

I get Arizona would love TRIV and he would be a great fit there and I told that to Dad. He likely is the best player on their team next season. Doesn't need a guarantee if he's the best player on the team. He'll start and play a lot because the best guys usually do.

Some guys won't like that and even if TRIV turns pro they'll still leave Arizona for no good reason.

Veesar should go to Michigan if he's that good.

The ONE thing that makes me wonder is it's used by coaches for negative recruiting that coaches promise 5-stars or high profile guys starting spots no matter what.

I'm hearing that being used against Cronin, a lot of coaches saying "Cronin played Dylan Andrews over guys way better than him and look what happened. He played Bilo over Mara not a C. Cronin will do that with whoever he decides is 'his' guy, meaning out of h.s. not a transfer."

LOGIC GAP!

Cronin favors h.s. over transfers so Bilo over Aday? Not true and nonsense, Aday out of h.s., Tyler is transfer... same coaches who say he favors h.s. over transfer saying opposite but no one notices?

I've had 4 people say it and refuse to accept that it's a contradiction.

Such is our world.

NM.

"You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you might just find you get what you need."

Was that some Rock band from the 60's? Whatever happened to them?

Eric F is 6-5 210 and strong enough to do a jab step 22 feet out, lose you and pop it in your face and bury a 3. And steal your inbounds pass and dunk it and shout at you to bring it on before he buries you.

He is quick enough to go by you with a low dribble and explode up and dunk it in your face.

He can pass better than any player we had last year and he likes hitting an open teammate for a score. It's all about winning.

He will be somewhere better than Arron Afflalo as a SO and Norm Powell as a JR, worst case scenario. Best case scenario, he's better than Aarron as a JR and Norm as a SR.

That's his floor as a FR next season. As a SO, well, that's his last year in college, he's a #1 pick.

Word.

He's going to start in the NBA for a long time and likely be a guy who scores over 20 PPG in the pros.

That's how good he is. One of the quickest releases I've ever seen and so strong you can't knock him off-balance and he's always on-balance when he launches it out to 22 feet. One of the few guys in college who can just rise up and hit a 3 even if you have a hand in his face, but he can run an offense and win that big bone next year.

Crispy, you love Caleb Love, right?

Eric F has that talent, but with better shot selection. The only thing is, when will he assert himself? He was like Jaylen as a FR when he played varsity as a SO for the first year. I don't think he took a single shot except a layup off a steal or an offensive rebound. When you have DD, Kylan Boswell, and Jared McCain, you come off the bench and get them the ball and stay the heck out of the way or just set screens.

The next year, with DD and Kylan gone, Eric started, hit 59-112 from 3, averaged 5.5 APG, 2.8 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 8.8 RPG and 15.5 PPG, and by the end of the year he was the best player on that team including Jared McCain.

Word.

Everyone left and Eric F had a bunch of babies and Carter Bryant who never met a shot he didn't like or a pass he did like. Eric did his best and he was pretty good. He'd get doubled even without the ball while Carter never had to deal with that. So Carter scored a lot and got the stars.

Cronin almost certainly redshirted Eric F hoping not to cause panic among the transfers and the guys coming back and the Mickey D who landed in his lap when Enfield bolted for SMU.

Now, it's no holding back.

It's time to win and we got DD and EF from the Inland Empire and no one messes with the Inland Empire.

If I didn't know any better I'd think you're describing Anthony Edwards or any other prolific guard. If he's as good as you say he is why waste a redshirt on him? I'd play the guy you're describing over Mack in a heartbeat
