My wife found out she had kidney cancer last summer. She was sent to Keck for treatment. She had her kidney removed and has had numerous other procedures and check-ups. She's cancer free at the moment.

One of my good friends and his wife were Trojans - their insurance was with UCLA - we use to joke about it - I wish he was still here as I'm sure he would laugh that my wife was sent to Keck.

As sports fans we can have all the fun in the world with the UCLA/USC riverly. However, when it comes to medical stuff, Keck is a first class operation. My wife and I still can't stand USC when comes to sports.

Have a nice day.

They sucked yesterday.

Yes I'm sure they are great, and mostly I hope your wife is doing well.

But I went for a routine MRI for a sports injury and they made me wait 1.5 hours, then I got in the machine and 30 mins into it was they said I had to go to a different machine and re do it. Which took another 1.5 hour wait. Then a 45 minute MRI.

So all in all they were completely disorganized and inefficient. That said, it was really fun walking into the merch store and asking to buy a UCLA hoodie. The look on the people's face was priceless.

I also tried to find Arenas to wish him well and pull him back from the Trojan curse... so glad he's ok.

It sure sounds like they gave you the run around. At the very least, that level of service will almost always leave a bad impression. I hope any future experiences with Keck are better for you.

We must have made at least twenty plus trips to Keck over the last year for a variety of treatments including a couple major surgeries. We've both been impressed with the level of service and their apparent competence. It's a very busy hospital that always seems just a little out of control; however, we've always been satisfied. Their staff has always been good natured when I let it be known that both my wife and I were rabit Bruin fans.

I've also had two major surgeries in the last year - both were at Torrance Memorial. Both turned out OK, but the nursing staff made a major error in each case that caused me severe discomfort. Torrance Memorial seems very organized and professional - it rarely seems cauotic like KECK. My sample means nothing in the big picture, but I'd take Keck over Torrance Memorial any day for a major surgery.

Like you, I was disappointed in our basketball team last year. I haven't given up on our coach yet; however, like most on this board I wish he was a bit calmer on the side lines. I'm also concerned about our high school recruiting. I'm somewhat more optimistic about football. I think Foster has the potential to grow into a very good college coach - we shall see!!!

As alway - go Bruins and crush Troy.

My daughter saw 8 specialists for a rare blood disorder

That number is not an exageration. The condition is rare enough that there is no accepted treament. She got around 8 different recommendations about how to proceed.

The only person who had a sensible plan was a USC doctor. Sometimes it is just about the doctor, not the organization.

BTW, the ccourse of treatment took a long time, but my daughter is fine.

As I told my other daughter, when she got a great offer to attend USC Law School, "If you choose to go there, I will support you 100%. Just don't ask me to wear the colors." She went to UCLA Law.

2 happy endings.

It's always about the Doctor first... proximity or fandom should not come into play.

Is your daughter UCLALAW1994?

Great news that she is fine and thriving...

The forward from CSUN de Committed from $c .. no continuity what so ever.

The world of college of basketball????.

With the core of returning players .. UCLA will at least have some continuity going into next season … just wish the Bruins had another legit 6-10” post player ..

We have huge holes all across the defensive side of the ball, whether its perimeter defense, rim protection, and rebounding. We have huge question marks at the 3 and 5. That's not usually the makeup of a Final Four team.

If called for traveling, it means something different for this guy. He’s pushing 26, too.

If he lost significant time due to injury, he can petition for a medical redshirt. Even without COVID, there have been numerous 6th year seniors who took their regular redshirt year and then received a 6th year of eligibility to make up for injury.

As an example, the Bruin women have Angela Dugalic back next year for her 6th year. She was a super senior this past season, but had the option to petition for a medical redshirt because she missed a full season with an ACL injury.

There might yet be a handful of athletes next year that will be eligible for a 7th year. But, they would have to have already taken their redshirt year, and used their 5 years of COVID eligibility while also losing an entire year due to injury.

but to transfer to a different school every and end up attending 5 colleges is ridiculous and is a statement by itself about the status of college athletics today. I doubt many of these vagabonds are NBA or NFL material so I have to wonder if they get a decent college experience and education that prepares them for the next stage of their lives. Maybe I’m naive about how far that NIL $ stretches.

We’re not holier than our competition. If I read his bio correctly, we’re bringing in a defensive edge rusher who will be attending his fifth college.
