Lino Mark, 6-2 G Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Angelino, who is Filipino, was ranked #128 in the 24/7 consensus poll, #170 by 24/7. I think he develops into a good starting PG for a top 8 team in the Big 10 (a definite NCAA Tournament team) as a floor (his ceiling, higher). When will he reach that level? At some point, if he went into the portal and UCLA needed to bring in a quality PG, he could be a target.
He's very fast and quick. He can shoot, score, pass and defend.
Braeden Smith of Purdue might be the best PG in college bb this coming year and he wasn't ranked in 24/7's consensus top 150 (I don't think he even made their top 300). DD was ranked #116 overall, #176 by 24/7, and I rank him the #2 PG in college bb this year.
Chris Nwuli, 6-7 F Chatsworth Sierra Canyon. Chris went to Bishop Gorman near Vegas for 2 years, a prep school in Utah for 1 year, and SC for 1 year. He's clearly into transferring and he hasn't even started college yet. Not a local star.
I'm not sure where mh is getting his rankings from; maybe typos? Chris was ranked #121 in both the consensus and 24/7 poll, not #12.
Chris reminds me a lot of a player UCLA fans might remember fondly: Luc Richard Mbah A Moute. At 6-7, Chris needs to stretch his J though it's already better than the Prince ever had. He has a handle, though, but what he can really do is defend every spot on the floor and dominate the glass at both ends. Cronin wanted him very badly when he was at Bishop Gorman and kept following him around, but there's a reason why players move around a lot in h.s.: Different reasons, but one reason is that a player is really following a college program or a person connected to certain college programs around and that can cut a school not on that list out of the picture.
But Chris will always be the sort of player whom Cronin wants and the academics and commitment to team will always be there. Chris will do anything asked of him to win. It's possible they'll find themselves together in the future.
Personally, I don't think Rutgers finishes much worse than they did last year. They don't have instant one and done lottery picks like Harper and Bailey surrounded by guys they make look like scrubs. Players like Lino and Chris make their teammates better and play to win, not to get drafted. |
