I watched the UCLA gymnastics meet yesterday and a weaker than usual performance on the uneven bars (49.150 while MSU tallied a school record 49.600 on the vault) and the balance beam (49.000 while MSU scored 49.300 on the floor) left the Bruins .700 behind after three rotations with one left. Michigan State also struggled on the balance beam (49.000) and that opened the door for the UCLA comeback. They responded with a national season best 49.800 on floor - 9.900 by Malabuyo, 9.95 by McGowan, 9.975s by Moors and Campbell, and capped by a perfect 10.000 by Chiles. Not their best meet but the floor exercise routines were electric and Pauley was rocking.
