Bruin T&F Women Shine in Albuquerque

At the New Mexico Collegiate Classic last Friday and Saturday, the UCLA contingent was well represented by the women. In a large field of teams, including USC, Texas, TCU, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Cal, Ole Miss, Illinois, Iowa, and many others, the UCLA ladies finished sixth overall. The men didn't fare nearly as well, winding up in twelfth. Here are some of the Bruin highlights from this big indoor meet in the Albuquerque Convention Center with the running events staged on the 200m banked indoor track.

WOMEN
Valentina Fakrogha, 5th in the high jump, 5-10.
Ka'Leila Abrille, 2nd in the pole vault, 14-0.
Taylor Snaer, 1st in the 200m, 22.92 (a new UCLA record)
Naomi Johnson, 2nd in the 200m, 23.02 Note: 55 women ran in this event.
Sonia Virk, 3rd in the 600m, 1:31.12
Asha Fletcher, 5th in the triple jump, 41-11.25
Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck, 2nd in the 60m hurdles, 8.06
4x400m relay team of Aly Conyers, Taylor Snaer, Kaylen Fletcher and Naomi Johnson, 1st, 3:28.60 (also a UCLA record); Texas finished 2nd in 3:30.36
Sydney Johnson, 2nd in the pentathlon, 4090 (another school record)

MEN (a much shorter list)
Drum roll for the comeback kid, Camryn O'Bannon, 3rd in the long jump, 25-10.25
Cade Sommers, 3rd in the pole vault, 16-8.25
Karson Gordon, 5th in the triple jump, 50-02.25 (only 2 fair jumps)
Notes: The men did not enter the 4x400m relay. Also, the Bruin distance runners did not compete (both men and women).
