MVB: #2 UCLA returns to MPSF play vs Pepperdine, Thur 7pm Posted Wed, Mar 26 11:34 am

After a two-week break for finals, the #2 ranked UCLA men's volleyball team returns to action on Thursday at 7pm with a home-and-home series against #9 Pepperdine. The two teams will play each other again in Malibu on Saturday. The Waves are 1 of 3 MPSF teams currently unbeaten in conference play (UCLA and Southern Cal are the others). The Waves have not played the top teams in the MPSF yet (UCLA has not either), but they did take #1 Long Beach State to the limit in a tightly contested 3-2 match earlier in the season at Firestone Fieldhouse. https://uclabruins.com/news/2025/3/26/no-2-ucla-mens-volleyball-hosts-no-9-pepperdine-thursday-night The big intrigue will be whether we will see former MPSF POTY Miles Partain take the floor, as the Bruins look for a more permanent answer at the libero position. Partain rejoined the team last month, but has been waiting for eligibility clearance from the NCAA.

The Bruins came off of their two-week finals week break with a sweep over #9 Pepperdine. A lot of players got into the match, and the Bruins looked sharp. Miles Partain did not play, so presumably he's still waiting for the NCAA to clear him. The match went in spurts, but when Pepperdine took sizable leads in the 1st and 2nd sets, the Bruins were able to answer back. According to a poster on the 247 board, Zach Rama was in concussion protocol last night. So, #1 recruit Sean Kelly got the start at outside hitter and had a great match, leading the Bruins in hitting % to go along with 9 kills.
