UCLA baseball advances with a 6-3 win over LMU
Posted Mon, Jun 03 9:50 pm
UCLA survives and advances in the CWS by defeating LMU 6-3 in the deciding game of the LA Regional series.

LMU jumped on UCLA early due to 2 uncharacteristic errors by Toglia at first base in the 1st innning. The errors allowed LMU to score 2 unearned runs and jump out to a 2-0 lead. I wondered whether Toglia was distracted and not fully into the game after learning before the first pitch that he was a first round draft pick in the MLB draft (heard he was predicted to be a 2nd round pick).

UCLA came back to score 2 runs in the bottom of the first to regain the momentum. A Strumpf 3 run home run in the 4th was the decider. UCLA didn't score the rest of the way but the bullpen held up (which included starter Garcia), giving up only 1 unearned run after the 1st inning.

Next is Michigan in the Super Regionals.
