Superfan Miss Val flies to OKC to be with softball team
Posted Wed, Jun 05 9:51 pm (Edited Wed, Jun 05 9:55 pm)
If you follow the social media posts by the softball and gymnastics teams, you'd see that they have a very tight bond. The softball team regularly appeared at gymnastics meets, and members of the gymnastics team posted photos from Easton during the regionals.

Miss Val has been doing her normal job choreographing the dance shows at Sea World, and she got on the phone and told the AD that she had to be in OKC for Game 2. And there she is stepping out of a private jet (presumably this was carrying the athletic dept staff, since I thought I saw Guerrero on TV at the baseball game on Monday).

She noted that she views softball and gymnastics as one team, and points out that she goes back with KIP and Fernandez to when they were players and she was an assistant coach. She also said that the softball team's motto was "we get to play softball today." Kind of similar to Kinsley's postgame interview where she said that the coaches like to tell her that "pressure is a privilege." Great to see Val's enthusiasm for the team, and how they got a charge out of Val's presence in OKC.

And this is a short clip of the softball team's pregame warmup -- trying to impress Miss Val with their gymnastics moves.

I'm not on social media so I did not realize the closeness between the two women's programs at UCLA. There are a few photos of the postgame celebration on the UCLA Bruins website and one of them shows Miss Val celebrating with some of the members of the softball team. Both programs are worthy of the praise being showered on them because of how they represent UCLA.
