In response to Regents ARE trying to have the last word... (trtl4x4)

Not inferring "they" can stop this move ... but could end up being a major distraction for the players & recruiting. But Personally i would like seeing UCLA stay and work out their financials somehow. Don't stone me for my comment ... everybody has their own opinion! |

According to the UCOP report, the Bruins would cost Berkeley $3.2 million if they left. In other words, UCLA stands to more than double its revenue while $3.2 million only represents about 3% hit to Cal’s athletic budget. What they don’t like is how much UCLA stands to gain, not what Berkeley is losing. |

The Regents have fairly sweeping authority with regard to school contracts with organizations outside the UC. Whether the Board chooses to move quickly against the UCLA plan is not obvious to us, but it is not the point. Certainly they can prevent the move between conferences but there are costs. A study of the benefits to - and losses from - the UC itself - in theory dictate their most prudent next steps. Nothing gets this far any other way at that level - or UCLA heads may roll.
It's our opinion that UCLA had some indication of an informal nod from a fair number of the board to pursue the new deal.
Go Bruins

There's an old saying in the attorney world: "If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell."
The Regents are doing that last thing.
Or to put it another way:
"....it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing." |
