Foster is in a bad position because the head coach quit on the team after the roster was set and he has to coach a bunch of players that are not very good. Imagine inheriting a team without top tier talent and being expected to win? It takes years to acquire depth and talent which is the head coaches job. Lets see if Foster can do that. This year was already destined to be bad and most pundits saw that after looking at the talent and depth. I just hope he can recruit because he will not be given 5 years like Kelly had to disappoint. He will need to have consecutive top 20 classes to right this ship. If he does not do that he will be fired after next season. Its put up now or else. |

one thing is certain, 99.999% of software developers should never, ever be promoted to management, much less senior management. Those are two absolutely different talent sets. Probably the same in football.

He had to have known he was not going to succeed as a head coach. He's an insanely good RB coach. But, he's never been a coordinator. No one goes from position coach to HC and succeeds. Especially at a non-supportive place like UCLA. He had to have known this was going to be the result. But, he's going to walk away w/ a lot of money. He and his family will be secure.
I don't see the university ever changing their apathy toward football. And Chip left an enorrrrrrrrmous financial hole for the Athl. Dept. to try to claw out of.
It will be a decade, at least, before UCLA football is anything but a bye-equivalent on B10 schedules. |

Feel sorry for people who struggle to make ends meet or have health issues not some coach who makes tons of money and is lousy at his job. Plus he has a big buyout.

As your first string guy. Chip knew Garbs was mediocre as his very best and low ceiling, and left even with a fifth year senior starting at QB. He also tried to recruit over him multiple times. People need to open their eyes.
MBA repeated over and over again how great Garbers was, how beautiful his 15 passes in practices were, blah blah blah. He told you all lies.
Oswego and I and a few others have tried to tell people the truth for awhile. People let their hatred for a true freshman 17 year old blind them. Whether you understand football or not, you should understand that Garbers will be lucky to win us 5 games this year, and more likely will win considerably less. It has nothing to do with Dante Moore.
Time to sit that kid down, thank him for being a serviceable backup, and take our lumps with a guy who may actually help us down the road.
I hope Foster realizes this. Martin has twice the IQ. Maybe he will at least understand EB’s offense. Chase Griffin would even be better.
