'College' football has become a farce

Not only does the system now offer lucrative payments to the "students", making the "college" game into just a set of minor leagues for the NFL. (What, you want to deprive these athletes of their share of all that the money they earn for the colleges? No. They're welcome to play as professionals, as has always been done with baseball. And the money has never gone to the _colleges_, it only goes to the colleges' _athletic_ departments. Would minor league football without the phony baloney ties to the colleges generate nearly as much money? That's a different question, one that apologists for the new system -- including of course the entire sports media industry -- never acknowledge.)

It's not just that the players are mercenary pros rather than students. Equally as off-putting, the "college" game has no salary cap. None whatsoever. How fair is that? So why should anyone give a rat's ### about this totally phony and corrupt sport?

Dan Lanning and slave-labor Oregon are of course among the worst at exploiting the new system:

I, for one, am glad the players are getting their piece of the pie. Coaches have long been ‘mercenaries’ are you termed, screwing over players. At least now they’ll get something for their troubles. (Especially considering how few actually go pro).

Also, salary caps are just another excuse to curb payments to players and enrich colleges/coaches. Players were already paid when the salary cap was ‘zero’ (when players weren’t supposed to be being paid). Might as well have it out in the open.

Consensus on this forum is Oregon has the deepest pocket.....and yet they have 0 national championship trophy... I've been CFB fans way before I became Ucla football fan. I've enjoyed Herschel Walker led Georgia to Bo Jackson led Auburn...And topping off the list... A BEST team money could buy in SMU. If you can't handle the agony of following financially strapped team, just switch your allegiance. You'll be much happier.
