So much parity back then.

my Pops was born in Wilbur before moving to LA when he was 10 in 1933. Cornhuskers were his 2nd favorite team and he was a big Devaney fan. He also was a big Prothro fan as well.

The overall collegiate football game bares little resemblance to the game back then.

but once they played Miami (this is the 80s), they would usually struggle to get first downs in the Orange Bowl. They finally broke through in the 90s with Frazier and Phillips.

I remember the Huskers being one of the first programs that embraced steroids. They were the biggest team in the country back then.

From back in the day: Johnny Rodgers/Rich Glover/Jerry Tagge/Larry Jacobsen/Dean Steinkuhler. I know I’m missing a few notable players.

Turner Gil, Irving Fryar, Mike Rozier, Dave Rimington, and Trev Alberts are the guys I remember off the top of my head.

As well as a center, Remington was a beast. Think I remember Trev Albert’s on the original ESPN gameday. Pretty sure he’s a AD now.
