Trouble in Palo Alto

Most people felt like Taylor was a good hire. He’s probably out with a sub-.500 season given his alleged behavior.

one by a consulting firm and another by a law firm, both stated that serious conduct issues by Taylor existed. The 2nd investigation concluded in July 2024, yet he was finally dismissed yesterday. I have heard of crossing your Ts and dotting your Is...but damn that took along time.

And since the investigations concluded, Andrew Luck got hired as the Stanford's football GM. On the organizational chart, the GM sits above the HC. I don't think that Luck wanted to start his tenure going into next season with this kind of cloud hanging over the program.

If it didn't become a national story, I suspect that Luck might have been okay with letting things play out. His tepid vote of confidence after ESPN started snooping around over the weekend was a first sign that Luck was checking to see what direction things were headed first. And once The Athletic/NY Times began poking around, Luck did an about face and issued a more definitive statement to fire Taylor. FWIW, Andrew's dad Oliver Luck is a long-time pro sports exec and college AD at WVU.
