One interesting tidbit that I didn't know...

While Cronin shows up in pressers wearing "Men of Westwood" shirts to hawk the NIL that seems to fund his program, Foster said it's "Bruins for Life" that bring in the money for him. Their logo is on the backdrop behind him. Not a single word about Men of Westwood from Foster. He said that in the program "money is not an issue" as he's been able to match or exceed a recruit's offers elsewhere.

UCLA has three distinct NIL funds: the existing Men of Westwood fund, which will exclusively support men's basketball; the existing Champion of Westwood fund ("Champions Fund") to support women's basketball and Olympic sports; and Bruins for Life, a new arm established to focus solely on football.

return on investment? Rich people don't become rich by throwing their money away. Is this from sports marketing agencies or consumer products companies that contribute to NIL in the hopes of developing relationships with future star athletes? I understand there may be a few wealthy alumni that are generous, but to have funds that equal or exceed other schools, there must be some sort of competitive advantage that UCLA has by virtue of being in LA, the second biggest media market in the country.

away."

But the already rich have essentially unchanging amounts of money given diversified investment of a large enough sum of money will basically never lose you money no matter how lavishly you live.

Point being: only rich people are donating significant NIL funds, because they have money to burn (far more than they should).

UCLA researchers have found a way to grow it on trees. Keep it cool.
