Correction. Second best NFL/UCLA Draft in the last 9 years yet we had a losing season! Why?

Bad OC and offense

The talent was clustered in the LB corp.

UCLA had one of the 5 toughest schedules in the country.

Only one player on offense was drafted and it was a late draft pick. The QB was an UDFA, which is much better than most of Kelly’s recruits (we all know Mora recruited DTR) such as Austin Burton, Chase Griffin, and Parker McQuarrie but UCLA needs a legit NFL QB to win.

No offensive linemen from the 2024 will be drafted it is safe to say unless they improve, which is always possible.

Also, the choke job punt that gave USC the ball at midfield rather than pinning them deep with a minute left in the game hurt.

To summarize: Killer schedule, bad OC and offense, lack of talent on offense in general and one of the worst units in the B10 at edge, which is a critical position.

I agree with that assessment especially with "Bad OC and offense".

We had something like 9 starters back on Offense

The Eric Bienemy hire totally derailed this team last year. We scored 8 points a game less last year than the year previous. We went from a team that could reliably run the football to one that was totally inept on the ground.

Team had talent last year, just a tough schedule and a scheme/coaching change that F-d us.

Bienemy miscalculated

He thought a fifth year senior could pick up is offense and it wasn't the case. The kid was a disaster in Hawaii. It didn't get much better..... there were moments where the offense worked but a poor running game, a Subpar QB and offensive line, and a first year regime was too much to overcome .

Bienemy thought he had Patrick Mahomes at QB

He had no frickin clue what to do with a college QB who needed to get the ball out quick due to some pass protection challenges.

From what I heard Bienemy would disappear into his office and come back 30 minutes later with a recycled Chiefs play that necessitated a 30 yd out delivered on a rope.

Garbers did stink up the Hawaii game for sure, but we never would have noticed it if EB hadn’t tanked our running game. Old Chippy would have run it down their throats.

Toward the later half of the season there was a little improvement in offensive play calling but it was too little too late.

CDF knew early that he crapped the bed with that hire and couldn’t show him the door fast enough once the season was over. CDF has shown an ability to learn from mistakes and improve which excites me about his overall potential as our HC.

I heard from inside team sources G Force couldn't grasp the O. We surely noticed. He was averaging 2 turnovers a game until he got hurt...

Look, it's fruitless to debate the past at this point. G Force was a mockery of a sham... he's gone... we don't need to wade back in. Chip had zero faith in him.

If we ever have a starter that poor again I may file for divorce.

Bienemy did miscalculate.... for sure. You're right he did not have Mahomes....

CDF Showed me something..we he got rid of Bienemy asap..he realized he was garbage for the college game..And CDF has done alot of great moves to get the program moving forward..I didn't really like the HC hire...but I am pleasantly surprised. Let's go Bruins!!!

how no college program saw that valuable entity to coach up their QB's or create an innovative offense. Could be his last stop.

Bienemy could never succeed as a college coordinator

His offensive scheme is much too complicated for a four year program, and with NIL and the transfer portal most of the best players are there only 1-2 years.

"Bieniemy could never succeed as a college offensive coordinator". 2011/2012 Colorado record 4-21. Who was the offensive coordinator? Scratching my head on the UCLA hiring in the first place.
