Favorite Plays of All Time
Posted Tue, Aug 23 1:50 pm
Ok, we are anxiously awaiting the start of this season, but the post about catch-able throws below made me think about that, and I was wondering what you guys think was the favorite play you ever saw UCLA make? (Live or on TV) For me, It was the Drew Olson pass to Brandon Breazell that gave us the win in OT vs. Stanford 2005. What a comeback and what a way to close out the old Stanford Stadium!

Go Bruins!

Carl Greenwood batting down a Ty Detmer pass in the end zone to seal a Bruin victory. That was my first game ever and I've been hooked ever since.

Marvin Goodwin intercepting Rob Johnson at the endzone

...in '93. I was a student then and at the Coliseum. The tension was ridiculous, the winner going to the Rose Bowl, and USC, down by 6, having just driven about 70+ yards (mostly on a bomb to an inexplicably uncovered Johnnie Morton), only needing a tie to win the conference. Sheer pandemonium when Goodwin cut off that pass and sealed the game. We were jumping all over each other, hugging and kissing random strangers (some even of the opposite gender), doing 8-claps and formulating our Rose Bowl plans.

And, hey, I even attended the '94 Rose Bowl despite being offered a month's rent for my ticket within 30' of the Pauley box office window. Sadly, though, that game didn't leave quite the same memories.

Khosh bashain...

#2 SUC goes down in flames when Eric McNeal deflects then intercepts John David Booty's pass in 2006. One of the most amazing picks ever. I was hoarse for days after that one.

Then there's John Barnes tossing TDs to JJ...

My favorite play was Freeman McNeils catch of a deflected pass from quarterback Jay Schroeder. Who tipped it.... USC defensive back Jeff Fisher. Yes, the former Titans's coach. McNeil turned it up field and 57 yards later touchdown UCLA, which gave the Bruins' a 20-17 win over the Toejams. Freeman was golden at Banning, at UCLA and with the Jets. Unfortunately, he played for the Jets when he and Johnny Hector were all they had.

I also remember everyone bailing out of the Rose Bowl, including my former college roommates that only heard the roar of the crowd.......

I wasn't at the Bowl that night but was watching on TV. JJ was a beast on that play and just blew by that trogan.
Barnes was so cool in that pocket.

on a tipped pass by Jeff Fisher, McNeil runs in for the score as Ronnie Lott chases in vain.

My freshman year.
