- UCLA's starting QB from 1965-67.
- Led team to a 7-2-1 Record (UPI Rank #10) in 1967
- Led team to a 24-5-2 Record in his career.
- Led team to it's first Rose Bowl win (1966).
- Scored 35 TD's. The most TD's in Bruin history at that time.
- Ranks ninth in career passing with 4,087 yards.
- Ranks 7th in career total offense with 5,358 yards.
- Ranks fifth in career touchdowns with 35 TDs.
- Led the team in scoring, passing and total offense three times.
- Drafted in 2nd round of NFL Draft by Los Angeles Rams. Also played for Washington Redskins.
- Nicknamed "The Great One"

- Charter member of UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame (1984)
- Won Heisman Trophy in 1967.
- Was Team MVP in 1965 & 1967.
- Other Awards: Maxwell Award, Columbus Touchdown Club Player of the year, Washington DC Club Player of the Year, National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, 4th place finish for Heisman in 1966.
- Number 16 jersey retired.
- Consensus All-American in 1967. Also earned All-Conference honors in 1965,66,67.
- Inducted to College Football HOF in 1988.
