CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

  • UCLA's starting QB from 1965-67.
  • Led team to a 7-2-1 Record (UPI Rank #10) in 1967
  • Led team to a 24-5-2 Record in his career.
  • Led team to it's first Rose Bowl win (1966).
  • Scored 35 TD's. The most TD's in Bruin history at that time.
  • Ranks ninth in career passing with 4,087 yards.
  • Ranks sixth in career total offense with 5,358 yards.
  • Ranks fifth in career touchdowns with 35 TDs.
  • Led the team in scoring, passing and total offense three times.
  • Drafted in 2nd round of NFL Draft by Los Angeles Rams. Also played for Washington Redskins.
  • Nicknamed "The Great One"

ACCOLADES

  • Charter member of UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame (1984)
  • Won Heisman Trophy in 1967.
  • Other Awards: Maxwell Award, Columbus Touchdown Club Player of the year, Washington DC Club Player of the Year, National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, 4th place finish for Heisman in 1966.
  • Number 16 jersey retired.
  • Consensus All-American in 1967. Was also an All-Conference selection in 1965,66,67.
  • Inducted to College Football HOF in 1988.
